As a part of my course, Diploma in Filmmaking (Advanced), at Yoobee School of Design, in Wellington, New Zealand, we all had to make our own individual short film from scratch. Which meant, we had to come up with our own concepts individually, write a synopsis, a proper screenplay on Celtx, choose the cast and locations, shoot and edit the film including the sound editing on Avid Pro Tools. The crew members for each of us for the shoot were from the class itself, which made the

learning experience more interesting. The process was very long but totally worth it, considering we got to learn a lot.

My personal experience? My respect for all the filmmakers increased multi-fold! :)

 

I shot this film using Canon 5D Mark iii, Canon 600D and Nikon D7100, and also using the Tripod for the indoor shoot,

as well as the Pocket Jib for outdoor shoot. Every equipment except the Nikon camera and the tripod, both of which were mine, were all provided by the institute.

Honestly, coming up with a concept and writing a screenplay were challenges in themselves. But successfully making a

short-film on my own has only encouraged me to learn more about each aspect of film-making. :)
